The Shred Centre – Shredded Week – 11th November 2019

Monday

With Halloween and bonfire night gone, we can officially say the Christmas word! That sure has come round really quick. But, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves as today marks a special day, a day where many lives were lost so that we could have the life we have today!

Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet, Lest we forgetlest we forget. They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.

Tuesday

Cold and rainy start here in the North East but that hasn’t stopped our amazing team from doing what they do best! Our drivers are out covering the Newcastle area as well as Leeds ,offering a regular service as well as one off collections.

We also welcomed our new starter Daniel Peck to the team, see below!

Today we welcome our newest member to the team, Daniel Peck, who is joining us as General Manager. Daniel has served in the Royal Navy, as a Weapons Engineer, serving on HMS Dauntless. Upon leaving the Navy, Daniel took to the business world and became a sales representative for a HGV main dealer. Working his way up the ladder, Daniel was promoted to Parts Sales Manager.

Daniel enjoys rugby in his spare time, both playing and coaching for Wensleydale RFU.

Great to have you as part of the team Daniel, we hope you enjoy your new journey with us here at The Shred Centre

Wednesday

Today we have had our Account Manager, Leigh and General Manager, Daniel out and about in Gosforth popping in to see our regular customer’s and make sure everything is running smoothly. While we were there, we called into some new business’s to offer our reliable secure shredding service. Great day for them both and a great way to bond with our newest member of the team,. Well done guys! Katie,  held the fort back in the office while everyone else was out and about. We can always rely on you Katie, thank you!

Thursday

We made it through hump day, which means it’s one step closer to the weekend! We are looking forward to Saturday, as we have a charity quiz night to attend, as well as leaving drinks for our warehouse Operative Mark Parsons, who has decided to move on to pastured new. We wish Mark all the best in his new adventure and he will be a great miss.

Friday

The Weekend is upon us, which means full smiles all round. Today, we have thrown Daniel straight in at the deep end, starting his HGV driving course by attending his medical. The office ladies are in full swing, gathering feedback from our customer’s we have serviced this week. As always, it’s great to here from you all. See below from one of our customers, who we serviced on an offsite basis:

‘First class service, quick, friendly and did exactly what you said you would and when.’

Another great week, another great effort from the whole team!

Have a great weekend all, The Shred Centre

The Shred Centre – Shredded Week – 28th October 2019

Monday

It is a cold start this morning! Our drivers had to dig out the de-icer for the trucks! Autumn/Winter is certainly upon us, with the clocks going back Sunday.  We hope you enjoyed the extra hour. It might be a cold start this morning but that doesn’t stop our team from being the best and raring to go. We have our vehicles out in the Sunderland area today serving our regular customers, as well as in Leeds providing an on site shredding service. The warehouse are just as busy keeping the warehouse neat and tidy ready for the trucks tipping tonight. The office ladies are taking new enquiries and gathering feedback from the services that took place last week. Not a bad day for a Monday at all! We leave you with the below quote;

“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure”

Tuesday

Another cold start but that does not stop us from smiling! Especially with Halloween soon and bonfire night then its CHRISTMAS! Time does fly when you are having fun and this year sure has flown over. Each year, here at The Shred Centre, we get involved with local community and sponsor local schools or sports teams. In 2017 The Shred Centre sponsored the Newton Aycliffe Rugby Club and in 2018 we sponsored the Heighington Under 14’s Football team. This year we have sponsored Ferryhill Business & Enterprise College, helping them towards their Kenya Adventure trip in 2021. As well as this, we are taking our team to a local quiz night, which will see the money raised from that evening go towards the Kenya adventure too. We haven’t stopped there as we have also sponsored Our Director, Patrick Stephens’ cousin Jon Mitchell in his journey to become a professional boxer! We wish Jon all the success in his  journey and we will keep you all updated. Pictures from the quiz night will be in our November’s monthly blog and newsletter so keep an eye out.

Wednesday

Hump day is here again, but once we get Wednesday out of the way it is plain sailing to the weekend. The  ladies in the office have been busy gathering feedback from our customers serviced the week before and we are delighted with 100% great feedback! See below some of the comments left on our social media.

“They arrived on time for onsite shredding and their staff were polite and professional throughout. Will certainly use them again.”

“From the first point of contact with Leigh right through to the customer satisfaction call from Katy The Shred Centre have been professional and helpful and I would definitely recommend them, we used them for a one-off on-site shred session when we moved office but we will be using them again in the future, Thank you everyone for a job well done.”

We also had our Director Natalie pop in the office and bring cupcakes for all! They were from a local company, The Auckland Cupcake Company, give them a try if you haven’t already.

Thursday

Homestretch to the weekend and it is Halloween! We didn’t have our drivers dress up for our customers as we thought they were scary enough, ha! But we have been seeing a lot of social media posts of other businesses dressing up and they all look great, as we know, Halloween isn’t just for the children! All of our drivers have completed their routes today and the warehouse staff have managed to get out 54 bales of shredded paper ready to be shipped to Prudhoe for recycling! Another great Thursday!

Friday

Friday has arrived and we are sure it has been a long week for most! However, it’s the 1st of November, a new month, new start, new plans. That sure has crept up quickly. We were spoilt today back at the Shred Centre Headquarters with our Director Patrick bring in pizza, they sure do look after us.  We even left some for the drivers returning back from their routes, after all we can’t have all the rewards here in the office and leave them out.  What a great week it has been and we already look forward to Monday. Have a good weekend!

Happy Friday all – The Shred Centre

The Shred Centre – Shredded Week – 14th October 2019

Monday

Another weekend has gone over so quickly, and I can imagine there are a few with a sore head, trying to recover from Friday’s antics! We had our monthly staff get together for drinks at the local pub and what a laugh it was. We didn’t take many photos but the below we did manage. As its Monday, it’s strictly back to business now, with the warehouse busy getting the bales ready for this week’s loads and the drivers busy collecting and shredding! We leave you with this week’s positive quote:

“Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall. …”

Tuesday

The weather hasn’t been on our side, we are well into autumn and already wishing summer was back. It has been hectic here at the depot with three artic loads of pallets being dropped off, ready for the warehouse to shred. The office ladies have been busy, with our office manager Katie gathering great feedback from our customers we serviced last week. See below a review left on our social media from a happy customer. Great work drivers and great work Katie!

“Fast, speedy, friendly service thank you”

Wednesday

Hump day already and another busy day for everyone at The Shred Centre HQ, with the warehouse staff working nonstop. Another load of pallets was delivered today, meaning our shredder has been going nonstop this week. We weren’t joking when we said it was going to be a busy week. Busier, the better! Great team, getting things done, as always.

Thursday

The weekend is soon creeping up and… we have some great news! Our website now has the ‘chat now’ function, for all our visitors to get an instant quotation and answer any questions they may have. Leigh is monitoring it all day every day and it has been a success so far and it has only been one day! Head over to www.theshredcentre.com now to have a chat with Leigh and find out more about our services.

Friday

FRIYAY! The day we all look forward too has finally landed and it is at least dry outside, although we have been warned that we could see snow as early as next week… goodbye summer, hello autumn/winter. Another busy one for all here at The Shred Centre, with our drivers out in full swing servicing our regular customers and the warehouse staff getting ready to send another paper load to Prudhoe ready for recycling. Big night for our account manager Leigh, who is attending the BNI awards ball. Have fun Leigh and not too many gins!

Have a great weekend all,

The Shred Centre Team.

The Shred Centre – Shredded Week – 30th September 2019

Monday

A wet start to the day would be an understatement, BUT that does not stop our team from doing what they do best. No rain is going to stop The Shred Centre team! Our drivers have been out and about across the UK today, servicing our regular customers, ensuring their confidential waste is safely disposed of and this is proved by presenting a Destruction Certificate. We leave you with the following positive quote for the week.

Happy Monday all!

“Decide that you want it more than you are afraid of it”

Tuesday

Well, the weather certainly has not improved and it certainly is a lot cooler, hello autumn! Brrr, frosty start this morning for our early risers but all vehicles were out and on the road before 6 am! A good start which means happy customers all round. The Warehouse staff have been busy too, bailing and loading 54 bales today! Our Account Manager Leigh has been busy too, holding the fort in the office and dealing with all new enquiries as well as existing customers while Katie has been on her holidays again! We hope you bring some sunshine back. A great end to another great day!

Wednesday

Great start this morning when the postman delivered our Warehouse Manager, Katherine Stephens, her certificate for successfully completing her IOSH Managing Safety course! Well done, another one to add to the growing portfolio.

We recently posted on our Facebook page about an article we came across in the Daily Mail how thousands of patient’s medical records were ‘dumped’ in a town centre. Paper bales were used to hold up scaffolding. You would not expect this to be happening in 2019! Outrageous, read further on the below link!

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7493609/Outrage-thousands-NHS-patients-medical-records-dumped-town-centre.html?fbclid=IwAR0wVjyUrAiBtT8MKF3OxjhhJRlqq6OakyTjOchqAvTrmT_TAqTLvcwu_Uc

Thursday

The mornings sure are getting darker, meaning it is even more difficult to pull yourself out of bed. Leigh was off to another early start this morning, attending her weekly BNI meeting. Leigh is part of the visitor hosting team for BNI, meaning an even earlier start of 5:30am.  BNI is a friendly group of local business owners/representatives, waiting to meet and help you. Last year the members of BNI UK reported income in excess of £482 million in new business. It absolutely makes sense for Leigh to be part of the friendly bunch. If you would like to learn more, give Leigh a shout!

Friday

We all love a Friday! Feels like it was only Monday yesterday. Great start today with all drivers raring to go and collect from our lovely customers! We also welcomed back Katie yesterday, who is back from her holibobs. Welcome back! It is a busy one in the warehouse today with the guys loading bales ready to be shipped out to Prudhoe and be recycled into loo roll! Good job guys!

That’s another week wrapped! Have a great weekend all!

The Shred Centre Team.

The Shred Centre – Shredded Week – 16th September 2019

Monday

That felt like a quick weekend … guess the saying goes ‘time flies when you are having fun’ is true! Over the weekend some of our team members took part in the 5K Gung-Ho obstacle course and what a great laugh it was! The weather was on our side too, a little chilly but no rain! Both our managing Directors took part too, Natalie and Patrick and it was a great time to bond and do team building! We didn’t manage to get a lot of photos when we were running the course but we manage to get a few before we even started. See below our happy faces, it was tough but it was fun

Tuesday

Still aching from the weekend’s antics! But we are back to providing our customers with a great service as usual and we have drivers in the Newcastle area today carrying out on-site for our regular customers and we have the off-site vehicle out in Leeds today serving new and regular customers! See below feedback from a customer we carried out off-site shredding too, 7x pallets in total!

‘Just wanted to say how impressed we were with the service last Friday; very quick (about 20 mins) and incident-free.’ Great end to a great day!

Wednesday

It has been a hectic day for the warehouse staff getting all the bales ready for the load going out but they did it and that’s another 52 bales of paper gone out ready to be recycled 100% into loo roll!

Thursday

Feels like it should only be Tuesday! This week has absolutely flown over. We have our drivers out in our local area of Durham and Bishop Auckland today, servicing new customers and regular customers. They even have the sun on their side today, so we can’t complain about the weather seeing as though it is the middle of September! Here’s to hoping our Winter isn’t going to be too bad! The girls in the office have been busy dealing with new inquiries and contracts. See below some more feedback received from a customer, which was sent to Leigh. Keep up the good work all!

Dear Leigh,

Just a note to say how impressed I was with the service. Your Operative was friendly, cheerful and capable. It was a pleasure to deal with him. The service represented good value for a good service. Thank you.

Friday

That is another week done and dusted! And a great week it has been. We have an amazing team who give it their all every time, whether that be the drivers, the office staff or the warehouse staff without any of them we wouldn’t continually grow as we do, so again a massive thank you to everyone! Each person has their role but at the end of the day, we all come together to be one team! We leave you with this positive note …

“Individual commitment to a group effort–that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.”

Happy Friday all, The Shred Centre Team.

The Shred Centre – Shredded Week – 19th August 2019

Wednesday

What a beautiful day it is, the sun is shining and a perfect summer day! The sun always tends to make people smile that little more, and we love a bit of positivity. We have a busy day here at The Shred Centre, with our drivers out in Cumbria (enjoying the fantastic views of course) and another route covering the Leeds area. Both routes have big clear outs, so its non-stop for the drivers today. They really are superstars! It’s not even 10 am today and we have had our first customer call in about a service they had an hour ago ‘Couldn’t have asked for better customer service and great work from the driver/s, will definitely be using your service again’ . That is what it is all about here at The Shred Centre! Fantastic work from the office ladies and our drivers, thank you! What a great way to start the day!

Thursday

Early start for Leigh this morning who attended her BNI meeting and also presented a 4-minute presentation about what we do here at The Shred Centre, great effort Leigh and a big well done from the whole team! We will leave you all with a positive quote:

The Shred Centre – Shredded Week – 22nd July 2019

Monday

The weekends are over too quickly. However, what a great start to our working week with our drivers straight out the depot at 6 am this morning and our warehouse staff clearing the warehouse ready for the drivers returning. Our office manager Katie is on her jollies this week sunning it up in France but we have Leigh holding the fort for us! We hope you have a great time Katie, keep your sun though, as it has been a scorcher here in England! That’s it for our Monday, we will leave you with an inspiring quote…

Monday Quote:

‘Do something today that your future self will thank you for’

Tuesday

Wow, what a warm day it has been, our drivers most certainly wishing the cold weather back! But, still 100% effort all round! Thank you drivers, and also a big thank you to our warehouse staff who have definitely felt the heat in the warehouse! Troopers,  all of them!

Wednesday

Still loving the warm weather, doesn’t it put a  smile on everyone’s face? We have had some great feedback from our customers for services we carried out last wee. It is always nice to hear from a customer that they loved the service and that they will recommend us. That’s what it is all about for us here at The Shred Centre!

Thursday

All systems go today and it is the hottest day of the year! Wow, it was a hot one!  We had all our drivers out the depot by 6 am! Ensuring they can reach every customer, keeping everyone happy! Great effort from our warehouse staff too as it felt like an oven in the depot, yet they kept pushing on and got 60 bales out to Prudhoe! Impressive! 24 tonne of paper being 100 % recycled into loo roll! It was also a very early start for Leigh, who headed out the door at 6:30 am to network with other like-minded business people, a positive meeting! 😊

Friday

Glad it has cooled down just a touch! This Friday’s blog section is a little different as we want to give our readers a break down of the different types of services that we offer, see below!

On site shredding – what does this mean?

On site shredding involves a vehicle coming to you at your premises and destroy your confidential data at your workplace or home! The shredder is built into the back of the vehicle and you can even watch your materials being shredded! This service is beneficial to anyone looking to have their data destroyed securely there and then a 100% secure service is what we offer.

Off-site shredding – What does mean?

Off-site, shredding is when we send our GPS tracked vehicle to your site, our fully vetted driver/s, who then collect your confidential data and it is transported back to our depot where it will be shredded within 24 hours to standard EN15713. All data is transported in our self paper bags and we bring lockable wheelie bins with us for transportation. Again, this service is 100% secure and very popular with our customers.

It has been a great week and we are already looking forward to what next week brings us here at The Shred Centre (maybe not the rain that is forecast)!

Have a great weekend all, The Shred Centre Team.

The Shred Centre – Shredded Week – 15th July 2019

Monday

Another lovely start to the week weather-wise! If only it could be nice and sunny all the time! We have dived headfirst into this new week, with our drivers all out of the depot by 6am to ensure they can complete their route and not let any customers down! Good job drivers and a big thank you to the guys (and gals!) for your constant hard work, and lovely happy smiles all round, always! We are often complimented on what a lovely attitude our drivers have when attending site.  A smile can go a long way and can make some one’s day, that’s what we are about here at The Shred Centre. Happy Monday all!

‘Your energy introduces you before you even speak’

Tuesday

Today rather than tell you all about how our Tuesday has gone, we thought we would give you all a little insight into the GDPR regulation that came into effect May 2018, have a read below!

GDPR explained in 5 minutes …

What does it stand for?

GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation.

What is GDPR?

GDPR consists of a long list of regulations for the handling of consumer data, GDPR regulations came into effect on May 25th 2018, it has been in negotiating for over four years. The goal for the new legislation is to keep existing protocols in place, whilst increasing the safety of individuals.

Who will enforce it in the UK?

The information’s Commissioners office.

What’s New?

There are new rights for people to access the information companies hold about them, obligations for better data management for businesses, and a new regime of fines.

What did GDPR replace?

In the UK, the government has created a new Data Protection Act (2018) which replaces the 1998 Data Protection Act.

Accountability and Compliance

Companies covered by the GDPR are accountable for their handling of people’s personal information. This can include having data protection policies, data protection impact assessments and having relevant documents on how data is processed.

GDPR Fines

One of the biggest, and most talked about, elements of the GDPR has been the ability for regulators to fine businesses that don’t comply with it. If an organisation doesn’t process an individual’s data in the correct way, it can be fined.

What happens if you aren’t GDPR Compliant?

Failure to comply with GDPR can end up with a big lump of a fine! The extent of the fines your company will receive depends upon how severe the breach is, and the compliance actions you’ve taken because of the breach.

Wednesday

Our warehouse staff has been busy today! Our warehouse operative Mark has loaded 52 bales to send to Prudhoe, which is the equivalent to 19 tonnes! 19 TONNES of paper ready to be recycled and turned into loo roll! We have had a few ‘big’ jobs throughout this week and drivers have got on with it, even in the heat, ensuring all jobs are completed to a high standard, which means happy customers. That’s what we aim for!

Friday

Our office manager Katie is a little over-excited too as today is her last working day and then she goes on annual leave for a week! Jetting off to France with the family!
